Other vendors will claim thousands of virtual paths, but beware that these software-only implementations are very limited in nature. Neterion is the only manufacturer to support IOV features in hardware, as an integral part of its system-level design philosophy.

For example, Neterion's 10 GbE adapters are unique in their ability to support emerging "passthru" models currently being implemented by major virtualization OS vendors (like VMware, Microsoft, Xen, etc.). "Passthru" models provide much better support for high-speed I/O virtualization, but require hardware to pick up the features that are being removed from the OS.
