Review: Yahoo

Yahoo offers small business owners domain name registration, web site design templates, website hosting, e-commerce solutions. Do you know that Yahoo web hosting is better than other hosting companies like Hostgator unlimited hosting, Bluehost WordPress hosting? Not sure yet if you want to take the plunge? Read the Yahoo web hosting review below.

With Yahoo web hosting, you have a flat rate package with an affordable price (they are not the cheapest option, though not the most expensive), as well as tools to help you design your site, analyze its performance, and even business email hosting as well.

One of the best things about Yahoo Small Business hosting is that they have a couple of upgrade packages for you if you want to grow your business with them. This is something that in the long term, you really should look at in any business solution.

On the whole, what are the good things about Yahoo?

  • NOT unlimited storage and data traffic. You may think, why is this good? That because it means, this rule applies to all and that Yahoo is prioritizing stability of the whole platform versus the ability to store as much stuff in your server.
  • Access to Yahoo design tools to help you build your site quickly
  • First-class email support. all in all, this is what Yahoo is all about.
  • Outstanding stability, better compared to a normal hosting company.

There are plenty more features behind every package but we’ll get on to that later.

Now to the bad stuff. Just so that you know their limitations and the implications of their perks, too.

  • You have to limit the stuff that you upload online, in addition if you get their most expensive Premier package. Monitoring your data traffic and how much you have uploaded to your host can be troublesome.
  • No dedicated server setups. Again, this is meant for small businesses so if you are looking for enterprise-grade solutions, this is not the one for you.
  • Expensive. Starting at $4.99 regularly ($3.74 promo for the first 3 months) BUT with limited features, their pricing is not as competitive as other companies.

There are three hosting packages in Yahoo Small Business that people can choose from.

The Basic package costs $4.99 after the first 3 months. Initially priced at $3.74, this covers:

  • 100 GB of storage and 1,000 GB per month of data traffic
  • Support for 10 site pages
  • Support for 250 email addresses and
  • Access to Yahoo design tools

If you move it up a notch, a better package costs $7.99 per month after the first 3 months. Initially at $5.99 per month, this means you get:

  • 500 GB of disk space and 5,000 GB per month of allocated data traffic
  • Unlimited site pages
  • 500 email accounts
  • Both Yahoo and third party building applications are available
  • Support for specific programming languages

If you want to go all out, there’s the Premier package. You will spend $11.99 per month after the first 3 months but starts at $8.99. This is good for those who anticipate heavy traffic to their site because it has:

  • Unlimited disk space and data transfer
  • Unlimited site pages
  • 1,000 email addresses
  • Both Yahoo and 3rd party applications are available
  • Support for multiple programming languages
  • Has the option for private registration

The features itself are pretty much what was listed in the section above. The Marketing Dashboard is available for an extra cost, which will help you look at your SEO efforts and the stats of your pages. Pretty neat stuff.

This is Yahoo so of course, it is easy to use. There are large numbers of tools and it’s not overwhelming for beginners.

They also have excellent customer support which is typical for well-known hosting companies.
